Flu-like illness and acute respiratory infections are among the most common reasons for visits to doctor’s offices and emergency rooms around the world. During flu-season, community clinics and emergency rooms are often overcrowded, and it is difficult to know quickly how individual patients are doing.

This mobile application allows healthcare professionals to assess patients quickly, at the point of care. Following simple yes/no questions, the app will automatically calculate two scores that may assist in patient management: the ViVI Disease Severity Score™ and the ViVI Risk Factor Score™. This clinical decision support software helps doctors to take medical decisions quickly and to communicate consistently with patients and colleagues, using a “shared language” based on scientific evidence.

The ViVI Score Mobile App™ can be used to score disease severity and risk in patients with influenza-like illness and/or other forms of acute respiratory infections (e.g. RSV, adenovirus metapneumovirus, rhinovirus and other respiratory viral pathogens), including in infants and children. It is specifically designed to improve workflow and quality of care - to the benefit of patients and their families. To this end, it was developed based on the principles of Design Thinking. The ViVI Score Mobile App™ can be used in anonymous, HIPAA cleared expedited mode - or in follow-up mode during IRB-approved clinical trials or observational studies. It can also be used to link standardized disease severity data to laboratory results.

The ViVI Score Mobile App™ was developed by the Vienna Vaccine Safety Initiative (ViVI) a scientific think tank and international non-profit organization (www.vi-vi.org).
It was tested and validated in extensive quality improvement programs in collaboration with medical universities and public health agencies. More information can be found at:
